Why use keywords?

 

Personal Knowbase uses a system of indexing your notes with keywords.

 

Text searching alone isn't enough. Even a complete search on "motherhood" won't locate a relevant quote like "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world." And a search for "opera" returns references to "operation" and "operator". Keyword indexing solves these problems by tagging notes by association.

 

Category trees aren't enough. As your database grows, trees become deep and difficult to navigate. Category-based software forces each note into a single branch. Does a review of a book about parks go under the Books category or the Travel category? Both. Keyword indexing solves these problems by allowing as many keywords as you need and by avoiding trees entirely.
