About Articles:  Your Basic Units of Information

Glossary  Return to Start  Previous  Next

Articles are the basic units of information in Personal Knowbase. Each piece of stored information is one article. An article might contain a note to yourself, an archived email message, a research reference, a recipe, an idea, a report, a record of a phone conversation or meeting, or a list of gift suggestions for a friend. You could also store all of your notes on one topic into one article, to keep them together, adding to the article each time you have something new to record about it. It all depends on what information you need to be able to keep track of and to recall easily.

Articles stored in a Knowbase data file are listed in the Titles column of the main Index Window. This window can be pulled up instantly at any time by clicking on the Index button on the Standard Toolbar or by selecting the Index option from the List of Open Windows in the Window Menu.

See Controlling Which Titles Are Displayed for information on various ways to change which article titles are displayed in the Index Window.

To view an article, double-click on the title of the article in the Titles column of the Index Window. This displays the Article Window, showing the article's title, date, associated keywords, and the content of the article itself. For more information, see Article Window.

Articles have no practical size limitation.
