Creating Links between Articles

You can link to another article by creating a hypertext link in the Article Window which points to the other article.

 

To add a link to another article:

 

Make sure that the Article Window is open.

 

If the Article Window is not open, double-click on the article's title in the Titles column of the Index Window. Refer to the procedure for Entering New Information to create a new article.

 

Click on the location in the Article Content area of the window where you want to put the link.

 

Click on the Insert Hypertext Link button on the Tools Toolbar.

OR Select the Insert Hypertext Link command from the Edit menu.

 

The Hypertext Link Properties dialog box is displayed.

 

In the Link Text field, type the text label that will appear in your article's content to identify the file.

 

If you used the Insert Hypertext Link command with a string of text selected, that text is displayed as the default Link Text.

 

In the Link Type box, click on the Knowbase Article option.

 

Click on the Browse button.

 

The Select Article Link dialog box is displayed.

 

From the Select Article list, select the title of the article that you want to link to.

 

A preview of the selected article appears in the Preview area.

 

Select the OK button.

OR Double-click on the article title in the list of articles.

 

You return to the Hypertext Link Properties dialog box. The selected article's title is displayed in the Target field.

 

Select the OK button.

 

A hypertext link to this article is inserted in your article at the cursor location.
