Changing Which Attachments Are Opened

Glossary  Return to Start  Previous  Next

You can change which of an article's attachments are opened with the article when attachments are set to open automatically. This also affects whether the attachment will open when you use the Open Attachments Command (Article Menu) for the article.

Setting attachments to not open is a convenient way to "archive" certain attachments that you want to still associate with an article but don't want to access regularly.

Make sure that the Article Window is open.

If the Article Window is not open, double-click on the article's title in the Titles column of the Index Window. If the article is not listed, refer to the procedure for Finding the Information You Need.

Select the Article Properties command from the Article menu. Then move to the Attachments tab.

OR Click on the Article Attachments button on the Tools Toolbar.

The Article Properties dialog box is displayed, showing the Attachments tab.

In the attachments list, click the checkboxes beside the names of the attachments that you want to open with this article.

Make sure that the checkboxes have checks in them for the attachments you want to open.

In the attachments list, un-check the checkboxes beside the names of the attachments that you do not want to open.

Un-checked attachments will not open with the article or when the Open Attachments command is used. These attachments can only be opened individually.

Select the OK button to save attachment changes.
