Status Bar

The status bar displays messages and the current state of the keyboard and your file. Use the Status Bar Command (View Menu) to hide the status bar.

 

 

On the left side, information about the current window, menu command, or toolbar button is displayed. When you hold the mouse cursor over a hypertext link, its target is shown here.

 

On the right side are five status indicators:

 

The link icon indicates that Active URL Links within articles are turned on. To turn Active Links on or off, see the Articles tab of the Preferences Dialog Box (File Menu).

 

READ indicates that the current file is open as Read-Only and cannot be edited.

 

OVR indicates that the Ins key on your keyboard has been pressed, and you are in Overwrite mode. As you type, your typed text overwrites previous text.

 

CAP indicates that the Caps Lock key on your keyboard is active.

 

NUM indicates that the Num Lock key on your keyboard is active.
