Paste Special Command (Edit Menu)

Glossary  Return to Start  Previous  Next

Inserts a copy of the Clipboard's text contents into the Article Window at the cursor location, using the formatting option selected. If text is currently selected in the article, this text is replaced by the Clipboard contents. Select which formatting option you want from the cascading menu:

Unformatted Text inserts an unformatted copy of the Clipboard contents into the article. This option is a useful way to remove unwanted formatting.

Formatted Text (RTF) inserts the Clipboard contents using Rich-Text Format. For example, this format would be appropriate when pasting from a word processing application.

HTML Format inserts the Clipboard contents using HTML formatting. For example, this format would be appropriate when pasting from an Internet browser application.

If your paste results are not being formatted as you expect, undo your paste and try a different formatting option.

This command is only available if the current window is an Article Window. It is not available if the Clipboard is empty or if the Clipboard's contents are not compatible with the Article Window.

If any of the formatting options are not available, this means that the source application does not support that format.

The keyboard shortcut Ctrl+E performs this command with the Unformatted Text option. To place data in the Clipboard, use the Cut Command (Edit Menu) or the Copy Command (Edit Menu). To paste text with its default formatting, use the Paste Command (Edit Menu).
