Customizes display settings for the Index Window. These settings affect all data files. To save your settings, select the OK button.
This dialog box is displayed when you select the Preferences Command (File Menu).

Default Display
Select which article titles you want displayed in the Titles column at startup and whenever no other titles have been specified (such as when the last keyword in the Selected column is moved back to the Index column):
| • | If Show All Titles is selected, the titles of all articles in the data file are displayed. |
| • | If Show Tagged Titles is selected, only the titles of tagged articles are displayed. |
| • | If Show No Titles is selected, the Titles column is left empty. |

Titles List
Show Tags
If this box is checked, little tag icons
appear in the Titles column next to the titles of tagged articles.
Show Attachments
If this box is checked, little paper clip icons
appear in the Titles column next to the titles of articles with attachments.
Show Hypertext Links
If this box is checked, little hypertext link icons
appear in the Titles column next to the titles of articles with hypertext links.
Show Privacy
If this box is checked, little lock icons
appear in the Titles column next to the titles of password-protected articles.
Show Dates
If this box is checked, article dates are included in the Titles column.
Show Times
If this box is checked, article times are included in the Titles column. You cannot display article times if articles dates are not shown.
Color for Titles
Select the color for the titles in the Titles column.
Color for Dates
Select the color for the article dates and times in the Titles column.

Preview Pane
Background Color
Select the color for the background of the Preview Pane in the Index Window.

Update Outdated Queries Automatically
If this box is checked and a change is made which may invalidate the results of a query, the query is automatically rerun (whenever possible) and the results redisplayed. Otherwise, the old results are left displayed, and the word Outdated appears in the column heading. For more information about queries, see About Queries and Logical Operations.
