Preview Pane Command (View Menu)

Glossary  Return to Start  Previous  Next

Displays or hides a pane below the Titles column in the Index Window. This pane displays the text of the article highlighted in the Titles column or the keywords of the articles highlighted in that column or both the text and keywords. You can preview the article in this pane, but you cannot edit it.

Select whether to display the article text and/or keywords from the cascading menu.

Preview Pane options:

Show Article Content displays the text of the article currently highlighted in the Titles column. If multiple articles are highlighted, the text appears blank.

Show Keywords displays the keywords of the article highlighted in the Titles column. If multiple articles are highlighted, only the keywords which are common to all highlighted articles are shown.

Select either option to turn it on, indicated by a check mark next to the option. If both options are checked, the keywords appear to the right of the article text in the Preview Pane. To hide the Preview Pane, un-check all currently checked option.

To access this command quickly, select the Preview Pane button from the Tools Toolbar.

The keyboard shortcut F8 cycles through the four settings for this command: no Preview Pane, Show Article Content, Show Keywords, and showing both the content and keywords.
