Personal Knowbase Helps Knowledge
Workers Manage Research Materials

Pinole, California November 18, 2010 -- Bitsmith Software has released Personal Knowbase version 3.2, a flexible Windows information manager for organizing freeform notes. Its straight-forward, standard interface, free-format data entry, and keyword-based retrieval system help knowledge workers be more productive from the moment they start it up. This software is a desktop companion for collecting notes, ideas, and clippings.

Personal Knowbase helps anyone who needs to gather and manage research materials. It's like a potentially massive virtual index card system, except that each card has no space limitations, and you can access all related cards together by tagging them with keywords. Because articles are associated with multiple keywords, it's like including a single card in multiple stacks.

These "index cards" can also contain links to each other and to other resources, such as files and online links. Using text articles and links to anything, you can index all of your digital information with one set of keywords. Password protection provides privacy. If you need to take your data with you to use on other computers, you can install Personal Knowbase directly to a USB drive.

The new version's additions help advanced users manage their growing knowledge bases. The new Keyword Cloud report offers a quick visual representation of the importance of keywords in your database. Frequently used keywords appear in larger fonts, while keywords assigned to only one article appear tiny.

With the new version, you can assign and remove keywords for a group of articles at once directly from the main window, without opening the articles. As databases grow, users can now more easily manipulate the shared keywords for their articles.

The software now makes it easier to locate related keywords and articles by viewing the keyword list in a "Related" mode. This instantly filters your index to show which keywords are represented in a given list of articles. You can find keywords related to the selected keyword and make combinations that will not result in an empty list.

The Personal Knowbase information manager has been helping knowledge workers be more productive since 1998. Personal Knowbase 3.2 costs $49.95 for a single-user license and runs on Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/Vista/7. A fully functional 30-day trial is available.
