Press Release: Personal Knowbase® Version 2.1
For Immediate Release
Personal Knowbase Notes Organizer Software
Is Now Integrated with Your Internet Browsing
Pinole, California, November 13, 2002 -- Bitsmith Software has released Personal Knowbase version 2.1, a Windows application that helps you organize your free-form notes and find them quickly and easily by using keywords. Writers, researchers, ministers, teachers, consultants, entrepreneurs, and other professionals use Personal Knowbase to manage their notes and ideas.
Personal Knowbase's keyword-based system lets you retrieve related information in a natural way. Rather than forcing you to select a single category for each of your notes, Personal Knowbase lets you assign keywords to notes. Does a note on books about national parks go under the Books category or the Travel category? The answer is both. Using Personal Knowbase, you can cross reference your notes with as many keywords as you need.
Although Personal Knowbase includes a complete text-search function, the keyword system also overcomes the weaknesses of providing only text search. A text search on any variation of "motherhood" won't locate a great quote like "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world." Also, text searches in large databases often return too many irrelevant results. Using keywords, you can find information easily by association.
Personal Knowbase 2.1 makes it easier to bring information into your data files from more data sources. In addition to being able to import information from rich-text and HTML files, you can now import delimited text files from spreadsheets and database programs. You can also import information from many types of formatted text files by defining customized formats.
Personal Knowbase is now more integrated with your Internet browsing. You can go directly to web sites by clicking on their addresses within the text of your notes. Clicking on e-mail addresses brings up your e-mail software so that you can send messages to those addresses. You can even link to files on your computer from within your notes.
A new Preview Pane in the main Index Window allows quick browsing of listed notes. The tag list provides instant access to commonly used notes. You can list notes associated with any or all of a list of keywords, or list notes which are not associated with selected keywords. There is no limit to the number of notes you can store.
Personal Knowbase 2.1 costs $39.95 for a single-user license and runs on Windows 95/98/Me/NT4/2000/XP. Volume discounts are available. A fully functional 30-day trial of Personal Knowbase is available at http://www.bitsmithsoft.com. For more information, contact Bitsmith Software, P.O. Box 84, Pinole, CA 94564-0084, USA.
