This is the fourth step of the Custom Import Wizard. Select which fields of each article are represented in files which use this custom import format. You can also specify the formats for the date, keyword, and attachment fields in this step. Your sample file is displayed in the Sample File Preview pane for your reference.

Fields Boxes

Available Fields

This list shows all possible fields of a Personal Knowbase article except those which have been moved to the Included list. Select the fields which are represented in your file format.

Included Fields

This is the list of fields represented in your file format. Add fields to this list from the Available list. To remove a field from this list, highlight it and press the Del key.

You can move fields between the lists in the same ways you move keywords between keyword lists throughout Personal Knowbase. For example, you can double-click the fields to move them, or use the Right and Left buttons, or drag the fields from one column to the other.

Buttons

Select All

Moves all fields from the Available list to the Included list.

Clear

Removes all fields from the Included list.

Date Format

Select the code which specifies the order of the year, month, and day for the dates in this format. The Y represents the year in the date. The M represents the month. The D represents the day. All imported dates from files with this format are interpreted in the same way.

For example, if one of your dates is 4/6/1997, and the month is April, the correct code is MDY. If the month is June, the correct code is DMY. For a date like 20020820, the correct code is YMD. For "Jan 1, 2001", the code is MDY.

Keyword/Attachment Delimiter

Select the character which your format uses to separate the attachments and keywords from each other within the attachment and keyword field(s). If your format uses a character other than Comma, Tab, or Space, select Other and type the delimiter character into the box to the right. Select None if there are no attachments or keywords in this format or if each attachment or keyword appears in its own field.
