PK Tip: Copying Articles from One Knowbase File to Another

Sometimes you may find it useful to copy (or move) articles from one Knowbase data file to another. You may want to break a data file into two smaller files, or to create a new file containing only a small subset of the articles in a larger file (for example, to share those articles with a friend or colleague). Or you may want to move old, obsolete articles to an “archive” data file.

To quickly copy (or move) one or more articles from one file to another:

  • Open the first Knowbase (KNO) data file.
  • Highlight the articles you want in the Titles column in the Index Window.

To highlight multiple consecutive or non-consecutive article titles, see our PK Tip for Selecting Multiple Items in a List

  • Use the Copy command (Ctrl+c) (or use Cut to move the articles).

    Copying multiple articles

  • Open the second Knowbase data file.
  • While in the Index Window, use the Paste command (Ctrl+v).

The group of articles, together with all their associated keywords, are added to the second file.
