I just recently discovered pkb and I love it. It is a great tool for managing information and I love how fast and simple it is. You have also done an excellent job on the help file.
I hope that as you add new features you will stick to the fast and simple model. I've tried big-application PIMs like Microsoft OneNote and Lotus Organizer and for my purposes, I much prefer knowbase because it is so light, fast, and simple. (One way to balance feature requests and keeping it simple would be to create different editions at different prices points and feature levels.)
One small wish--I wish your program icon was more distinctive in my system tray. I like to minimize my apps to my system tray using a little utility (thewonderfulicon.com) and your program icon is just not very distinct among all the other icons. I have to look for the Knowbase icon, whereas more distinctive icons just catch my eye immediately. Even just putting a black border on the existing icon would help to make it more distinctive.
If anyone knows of a freeware utility I could use to change the program icon myself, please let me know. |

I always wonder if I spend too much time on the help file, so it's nice to hear that someone appreciates it.

Yes, that's definitely a trick. I'm sure you see by browsing the forum that we get quite a few feature requests with the potential of seriously complicating the interface. We are trying to avoid that while still adding more power to the program. We have considered the possibility of multiple editions and price points, but have shelved the idea for now. Maybe we'll reconsider it.

Point taken. To be honest, I've disliked our icon design since day one. We updated the look a bit for versions 2.x and 3.x, but the card/tag motif has been there since 1.0. But after nearly 10 years, I'm still waiting for a lightning strike of inspiration for a better icon idea. Maybe we need to just go completely abstract...
