Hi,

This is probably a difficult feature to implement, but I'd like to suggest that you consider adding the ability to search across more than one database at a time. It seems to me that most users of PKB must break their information into topic-related databases, but that doesn't mean that you always know which of your databases might not have some related information. Being able to search more than one database for a word or phrase would increase the usability of PKB as a central storage tank for all my information.

The second feature I'd like to see is minimization to the system tray. This would keep PKB always handy. And if you could also add a pop-up right click menu to the minimized icon with the ability to open to a new article ready to paste or type information into, that would be handy as well.

What do others think of these suggestions?

I agree about the idea of minimization -- it'd be nice. As for the other, sounds useful, but not for everyone.

Try the tiny program RBTray to minimize just about any program to the System Tray. You can find it at http://rbtray.narod.ru/.
I never start up the PC without it!

I strongly favour the idea of searching all or some database files simultaneously.

Like many people, my interests overlap. Today eg. I made a new page with keyword decadence. The page is about Wagner (who else?) but decadence is an idea that can apply to literature, society, etc.

If that could be managed, the case for category searching (discussed elsewhere in the forum) could be reframed. Seems to me those who want categories could then just create separate files for them: thus, rather than 'Travel', you could have 'Travel-International', 'Travel-books about' - whatever. That would make the breakdown of knowledge similar to a library catalogue.

Then again, that makes browsing more awkward . . .

PKB rocks! It strikes an ideal balance between simplicity and power, and despite hankering for this improvement, I wouldn't want to see the balance changed.
